The Visible World : The Invisible World

The Visible World : The Invisible World focuses on "invisible people" who exist within our society. The work collects, in real time, the voices of refugees and migrants, the elderly, teenagers and children, LGBTIQA+ people, women, workers, the disabled, and those raising environmental issues, and brings them into the physical space of the exhibition.

The website continuously gathers a variety of voices produced on online petition sites, online petitions, public petitions, and social activism platforms using automated crawling technology. The collected texts are then transformed into sound and light, responding to specific words and expressions through devices installed in the exhibition space. Each device is responsible for one topic, but they are interlinked and influence one another within a circulating square structure. The squares that move beyond the physical devices suggest that social issues do not exist independently but are inextricably intertwined.

The work does more than simply replay the voices of the "invisible people." The circular flow of text allows different voices to converge into a collective presence. Why is it that some voices are easily heard, while others can only be heard when we look for them deliberately? Why do so many cries accumulate online, yet rarely reach our daily lives or public spaces?

The endlessly flowing text and responsive sounds continually address the audience. Rather than simply revealing the “invisible world,” the work amplifies these voices in real time, allowing their presence to be felt within physical space.

The Visible World : The Invisible World asks whether making visible those voices that once remained confined to online spaces can itself become a social act. The unseen does not mean the nonexistent.
