Creative Beyond Definition

I create design, development, and things beyond the frame

Hello. I’m Yonggi Jeong(David), the creator and operator of versync. I work as both a designer and developer, but more than anything, I’m a generalist who loves exploring and experimenting across many different fields.

versync may look like a portfolio website, but in reality it’s also a blog, a link hub, a business card, and a single RSS feed block all at once. But I didn’t originally plan for it to have such a fluid structure. At first, my goal was simply to build a conventional portfolio website with a layout optimized for print.

As I continued planning the website, though, I started to feel strongly that it didn’t really belong to me. Having spent a long time living a life that often felt false, one thing became especially important to me: refusing to create something hollow or dishonest.

So I archived the entire original plan and started over from scratch. First, I began by asking myself what truly mattered most to me. I organized the fields I work across, along with the words that best express who I am.

The words I arrived at were queer, fluid, and versatile. Based on those ideas, I refined the naming and developed a simple branding direction. Once the foundation was in place, I realized this website could become something far beyond a simple portfolio site. Much like myself, it could take on many different roles.

That’s why I wanted versync to feel like a website where many things are blended together, yet still approachable and grounded with a strong sense of identity.

A little mixed together, perhaps.
But still centered by something clear.

After about four months of development, versync finally came to life that way.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

It looks like one, but is actually made of many things

Instead of becoming one giant point, I’m drawn to the connections between many smaller ones

Working between design and technology

  • Graphic Design

Beyond graphic design as a form of visual expression, I focus on the delicate process behind how outcomes are formed. I’m interested in how graphics within digital environments can evolve through technology. Rather than producing graphics that merely move, I create systems that respond and transform according to technology and context.

Digital environments have always fascinated me. Every environment is different, and each requires its own level of consideration. Based on accessibility standards within digital spaces, I explore how technology can be communicated and experienced properly across diverse contexts. As we continue living in a reality where the physical and digital increasingly overlap, I believe more careful and deeper reflection is needed.

  • Creative Development

Rather than creating websites that blend into familiar patterns, I aim to build experiences that stay in people’s minds. I focus on how a brand is felt through interaction, and shape those ideas into working digital experiences. From bold interactive moments to the smallest micro-interactions, each element is thoughtfully considered and carefully crafted.

I’m less interested in massive collectives than in the movement of smaller points as they connect and drift apart. I explore the unexpected outcomes that can emerge through those connections. There is something compelling to me about how small encounters overlap, mix together, and evolve into more layered and intertwined relationships. Rather than studying this through theory, I learn through experience, interaction, and observation.

  • Creative Coding

Sometimes my work steps outside the structure of the website entirely, while at other times it adopts the form of a website yet functions in ways that differ from familiar conventions. I see the website not simply as a platform, but as a creative tool with expandable possibilities. From interactive exhibition graphics to independent artworks, I don’t see clear boundaries in what this medium can become.

Exploring the possibilities of the web is an endless process, and each project becomes another new attempt. As technology evolves, the boundaries of the web continue to expand with it. I’m interested in discovering what can newly emerge within that movement. At the same time, I continue experimenting in order to remain grounded in the essentials, even within constantly expanding flows.
